Happy New Year!
I am pleased to welcome 4 new members onto the Foundation Board of Trustees: Stephen Diamond, Alison Himel, Warren Kimel and David Stein. I look forward to the expertise they bring to the table.

Our Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) is also doing excellent work sharing their wisdom with fellow advisors about how to approach charitable giving with their clients. We are looking to recognize one professional advisor for their contributions with the PAC Award of Excellence (click here for a list of previous winners). Please take a moment to identify any advisors who you deem deserving of this award. Nominations are due on February 25, 2014 and can be submitted using this form, which includes a list of guidelines.
The Professional Advisory Committe has recently launched a newsletter entitled Giving Advice

I welcome your thoughts and look forward to our continued work together.

Senator David A. Croll Memorial Wellness Lecture

wellness_lecture

In late October 2013, seniors and staff at the Bernard Betel Centre benefited from a complimentary wellness lecture on Healthcare Decision Making, which spoke to their own power, authority & control over the matter.
The lecture featured Dr. Robert Butcher, Ph.D., an ethics consultant. Dr. Butcher spoke about ethical issues in healthcare, the different federal and provincial funding agencies and most importantly as he put it, “how to own your healthcare decision”. The lecture was supported by the Senator David A. Croll Memorial Fund established at the Jewish Foundation. Every year, the Fund offers a complimentary wellness lecture on varying healthcare topics that affect vulnerable seniors.
